Director of Retail Development
This is a full time position located in the Licensing Department with variable/flexible working hours to include weekends, holidays and overtime as required with benefits after successful completion of a three (3) month probationary period. This is a promotional opportunity and is an internal/external recruitment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the general supervision of the Vice President of International Licensing, develop, maintain, and maximize existing retail relationships (buyers, DMM’s) with all forms of retail accounts (mass, mid-tier, specialty, department value and direct) to increase the placement of Elvis branded product at various retail locations in the USA & Canada to grow royalty revenue.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
•Analyze specialty, mass, department, value, direct, and mid-tier channels of business/landscape and recommend and implement growth strategies
•Develop strong relationships with buyers and DMM’s
•Research and develop new retail relationships, making them aware of the Elvis program
•Execute tactical program plans against retail strategy
•Monitor and track actual performance against defined growth plans by retailer
•Maintain comprehensive retailer status reports for the Licensing team, sharing with Licensees when appropriate
•Develop and recommend ways to gain incremental business through promotional overlays
•In conjunction with finance, manage financials associated with retailer programs
•Visit stores regularly to constantly monitor what is happening at the store level with Elvis brand and competition
•Work closely to develop exclusive programs and report retailer feedback
•Analyze retail sales for their dedicated accounts, present and updates sales budgets; monitor expense and maintain expenditures under company budget
•Follow up with the merchant teams and licensees to ensure strong communication
•Coordinate and/or participate in brand presentations for new and existing retailers and licensees
•Support Licensees in their efforts to grow their business to meet and exceed revenue goals in assigned accounts, including creation of cohesive programs and merchandising plans. Coordinate multi-licensee programs.
•Attend Licensee presentations to buyers as needed
•6+ years related experience in retail development, retail marketing or sales
•Licensing industry experience
•Relies on experience and judgment to plan & accomplish goals
•Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
•Analytical, detail-oriented, and have excellent project management skills
•Organization and prioritization skills are critical
•Ability to multi-task and manage numerous and ongoing business projects
•PC Proficiency (MS Office, Outlook, Word/Excel/Power Point 2010
•Existing relationships/contacts with buyers of key retail corporations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to speak clearly and distinctly in order to communicate with a wide diverse clientele; Ability to lift small packages weighing up to 25 pounds; speak clearly and distinctly.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Must be able to regularly drive to /from local customer accounts; 20% overnight air travel required; must have valid passport.
