These major DVD sets are great for the real fan. What about the general public person who’s a potential new Elvis fan, but might not want to spring for a big box set to begin with. Will there be a smaller-scale ’68 and Aloha releases for them?
EPE and distrubutor BMG have always had in mind coming up with the right choice of material from these sets to make a 1-disc release of ‘68 and a possibly a 1-disc Aloha release to reach the more casual buyer and to get ’68 and Aloha into more retail outlets. Some retailers work only with lower price points and will not carry the high-end sets. We have a lot of great ideas about this and will come to a decision further down the road – maybe for a 2005 release. We’ll see. For now, the entire focus is on the launch of the new comprehensive sets. If/when we do a 1-disc release, even though we’ve not held back on content in the big box sets, we hope to make any 1-disc release special enough in our approach to it that the serious fans who are compelled to collect everything will be pleased as well.
