Frequently Asked Questions

What about alternate camera loads and getting to choose how we view the ’68 and Aloha material?

As explained in the liner notes for the DVD sets, although the shows were shot with several cameras, there was not a tape machine assigned to each camera. Camera choices were made while the performances happened and were recorded to two or three tape machines – in some parts of the ’68 production, only one. (See the intro explanation for each chapter of the DVDs.)

So, why not give you the DVD programming option of choosing from the two or three alternative tape loads to view the material in your own individual way? Perhaps we could have done this feature with one or two songs as a fun DVD extra without driving up the retail price due to added production costs, but after thoughtful deliberation, we determined that with all else we had to accomplish, and knowing that we really did do a good job in assembling the limited tape sources for optimum viewing, the “edit your own” feature possibility was something only the tiniest percentage of our core audience anticipated. We were also advised of some technical challenges and some possible additional music publisher issues that could have arisen.
