Humes Marker Dedication
10:00 a.m. Humes Middle School (formerly Humes High School), 659 N Manassas Street.
Details: Join Elvis' high school classmates as they have a plaque dedicated in the king's honor at the site of Elvis former high school in Memphis. Elvis' friend George Klein will be in attendance, along with a performance by singer Ronnie McDowell. Humes High School is currently on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Showcase
1:00 p.m. Elvis Week Main Stage, Graceland.
Details: See some of the semifinalists for the 2013 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest showcase their talents as they prepare for the ultimate contest. Elvis tribute artists who will perform during this event to be announced at a later time, but all will be 2013 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Semifinalists. This event will be hosted by Ultimate Contest host Joey Sulipeck. Individual tickets are $20 or you can purchase the Elvis Week Main Stage All-Access Pass. Elvis at Stax Listening Party
4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Stax Museum of American Soul Music, 926 E. McLemore Ave.
Details: In conjunction with the much-anticipated August 6th release of “Elvis At Stax,” the 3-CD box set chronicling the music Elvis recorded at Stax Studios in July and December 1973, RCA/Legacy Recordings is hosting a very special listening party at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. Fans will have an opportunity to stand in the very same spot where Elvis recorded the music they are hearing, in addition to witnessing stories and details behind the music and recording sessions from representatives of Sony and special guest Norbert Putnam, who recorded with Elvis at Stax in December 1973.  Admission to this event is free.

“Viva Las Vegas" Movie and Dance Party

Details: Bring your dancing shoes for a night filled with Las Vegas fun and excitement. Kick-off the evening with a screening of the Elvis fan favorite “Viva Las Vegas” - sponsored by Warner Bros. - which is sure to have everyone on their feet singing along and dancing in the aisles. Then, after the movie is over, continue to dance the night away with DJ Argo as he plays some of your favorite Elvis music. Ticket price includes both movie screening and dance party that follows. Individual tickets are $30 or you can purchase the Elvis Week Main Stage All-Access Pass.

Morning and Evening Walk Ups to Meditation Garden

Details: Daily throughout the year, there is a special period of time for free admission walk up visits to the Meditation Garden at Graceland. Elvis Week morning walk ups will be from 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. on August 10-18. Morning walk-ups may not be available on August 16 due to the Candlelight Vigil. Elvis Week evening walk ups will be from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on August 10-14 and August 16-17. Evening walk-ups will not be available the night of August 15 due to the Candlelight Vigil.

Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition “Elvis at 21”

Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Fort Worth, Texas
Details: “Elvis at 21: Photographs by Alfred Wertheimer,” a new Smithsonian traveling exhibition, presents 56 striking images and will open at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History on Saturday, May 25, 2013. Developed collaboratively by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery and the Govinda Gallery, “Elvis at 21” will be on view at Fort Worth Museum of Science and History through September 2, 2013. Alfred Wertheimer will be available for interviews at the museum (upon request) on Thursday, May 23 - Friday, May 24.

To compliment the new exhibition, Graceland Archives will also included rare artifacts related to Elvis in Texas. Those on display from the Graceland Archives include his Army fatigues hat worn in Fort Hood, TX and a Rolex given to him in 1970 while performing in Houston, TX. Learn More.
