Morning Gospel Singin' With First Assembly of God, Memphis

9:00 a.m. Elvis Week Main Stage Entertainment Pavilion, Graceland
Details: Come experience the gospel music of the
First Assembly of God Memphis, Elvis’ church during his early years in
Memphis. Performers to include Soul City, which features members Bob Geabhart, Ben Kirk, Corey Riggs and David Wootton.
Along with many of the classic songs Elvis would have heard as a young
man attending youth services, several selections will be performed from
their album “I Will Give You Glory." The celebration also includes short
interviews with many members of Elvis' church youth group who will be
available afterwards to greet fans. First Assembly’s music program is
well-known around the world and, if you have an appreciation of
Christian music, this concert is certain to be one of your favorite
events during Elvis Week. Tickets are $15. Starting August 9, tickets
available for purchase will be located at Graceland Guest Services.

Conversations on Elvis - In the Studio

Details: Hosted by Tom Brown, Vice
President of Original Productions for Turner Classic Movies (TCM). Hear
what it was like inside the recording studio with Elvis from session
musicians who were the sound behind the king for many legendary
recordings in the ‘60s and ’70s. Special guests will be Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns (trumpet), David Briggs (piano), Norbert Putnam (bass), Chip Young (guitar) and Richard Sterban, current member of the Oak Ridge Boys and former member of JD Sumner of the Stamps Quartet (backup
singer). Starting August 9, tickets available for purchase will be
located at Graceland Guest Services. Tickets may also be purchased at

Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Final Round

Details: Enjoy
a phenomenal show with the top Elvis tribute artists from Round Two as
they compete for the title of Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist of 2012. The
excitement will build throughout the night as the group is narrowed
down to the top five, before the ultimate winner of the contest is
announced. All Elvis tribute artists will be backed up by the EAS Band. The Final Round will also feature a special performance by 2011 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest winner Cody Slaughter. Elvis is in the Building, a photography exhibition curated by Marina
Pacini, Chief Curator and Curator of American, Modern, and Contemporary
Art, will be on view at the Brooks from June 23 through October 31.
Consisting of early, yet iconic photographs of Elvis Presley, the
exhibition includes an Ernest Withers photograph of Elvis and B.B. King
at the 1957 WDIA Goodwill Revue and a 1956 image of Elvis on his

Alfred Wertheimer’s gorgeous photo exhibit has been displayed in prestigious museums and galleries across the country, including the National Portrait Gallery in D.C. and the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. The exhibit is finally coming back to its rightful home here in Memphis just in time for Elvis Week 2012. The Pink Palace will be extending their hours until 9:00 p.m. on August 10 - 15 for the week-long celebration.
