Love For Elvis Fan Club

The Love For Elvis Fan Club was established in July
2002 through a friendship that had started on the Girls
Guide to Elvis Website's message board. Valerie Keen & Ronda Marson met while exchanging messages, and found that they had the same passion and understanding of Elvis and what he had meant to them both. They had always wanted to have an Elvis Fan Club - but didn't want to do it alone! Thus the birth of the one fan club with two chapters - one in the US & one in Canada.

The fan club now has just over 137 members, and continues to grow every month! How far they have come since starting with only 15 members in 2002. Members range in age from 3 yrs with the oldest being 94 yrs! There are even a few international members as far away as England!

Valerie established the US branch in Thelma, KY and Ronda the Canadian Branch in Richmond Hill, ON. Together they work hard at raising money for Charity in memory of Elvis through various fan club events. Since the fan club's inception they have tried to hold one fan club event a month. In June 2003 they took their first trip to Memphis & Tupelo together (Ronda's first EVER!), and collected memories they will cherish always. This year they are planning their second trip together in June 2004 - and for the first time are hosting a fan club event together with both the Canadian & US Chapters. It will be a Charity BBQ in Tupelo, MS to raise money for Leukemia Research and in memory of a dear fan club friend Belinda Thomas who lost her battle with Leukemia on April 22, 2004.

Each year the VP of the Canadian Chapter, Nella
Allward, attends the Elvis Week & Elvis Birthday Week Celebrations held in Memphis. On behalf of both Chapters a donation is made to Presley Place & The Elvis Presley Trauma Center.

The Canadian & US Chapters have had the fan club
featured in their local newspapers, and both Ronda & Valerie have had numerous Radio spotlights and interviews. During the inception year of the fan club in 2002 Ronda was also interviewed on a Toronto Morning Talk Show called Breakfast Television on CITY TV.

Together Valerie & Ronda will continue to work hard to carry on Elvis' wonderful legacy and to maintain the supportive fan club family they have established.

Here is a brief history on each chapter:

Canadian Chapter:

The Canadian Chapter is very proud to have Nella
Allward on board as our VP. She & her husband Brian
have an Elvis Memorbilia Store in King City, ON called:
King Collectibles and travel continously all over the
US & Canada to various Elvis Festivals and Conventions.
They have been very supportive in helping to establish
the fan club branch in Canada and are to be commended
for their commitment in assisting to raise money for
charity in honor of Elvis and his kind, loving,
generous heart.

The Canadian Chapter has held events such as: Elvis
Gospel Night, Luau Party, Elvis Birthday Celebration,
King Creole Night, Elvis Army Night, Movie Nights, Food
Nights and the list goes on. They have also held shows
with two of the adopted ETA's of the fan club: Leo Days
and Travis LeDoyt. The various charites they have
raised money for include: The Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation & Canadian Cancer Society, The Young
People's Players Theatre, Greenfield High School Music
Dept., Local Food Banks, The Chum City Christmas Wish
and many more.

Ronda became an Elvis Fan at the tender age of 6, and
music has always been a passion. Her Dad was an
employee of RCA for over 25 years and there were always
lots of Elvis records coming home! When she grew to
learn more about Elvis' generous heart and how much he
adored his fans she was hooked!! Ronda is so very proud
to be involved in the commmunity and raising money for
charities while sharing her immense Love For Elvis with
the wonderful group of fan club members in Canada.

The US Chapter is so honored to be able to carry on
Elvis' legacy of giving. Donating our time, raising
money, clothing and food for others in Elvis' memory is
our main goal. We've held several events such as Elvis
Fav Food Night, Welcome Home Sgt. Presley Night,
Hawaiian Night, Loving You Party, Memorial Night,
Fifties Night, Birthday Party's, Fall Festivals and
much more that have helped us to raise money, food and
clothing for The Salvation Army, American Cancer
Society, Children's Care of Eastern KY, KY Fireman and
Policemen Order, CES Elementary Drama Dept. and many
many more worthy causes.

Valerie's love of Elvis comes from being raised on
Elvis. Her father was and still is a huge fan of Elvis.
She can remember watching Elvis movies on the weekends
with her dad and not a day would go by without Elvis
music playing in the house or the car. Now she
continues sharing and teaching Elvis to her 3 children.
Her joy in life is being able to share all the
happiness that Elvis has given to her with the other
loving and devoted Elvis fans in the US Chapter. And in
continuing to keep Elvis' legacy alive for many more
generations to come.
