How can I get Graceland and Elvis Presley Enterprises to donate to my charity or cause?
Our company has committed to focus its charitable funding and volunteer efforts toward the area of transitional housing for homeless families. Elvis Presley Enterprises in partnership with the Metropolitan Inter-faith Association of Greater Memphis has built Presley Place, a transitional housing complex, offering comprehensive services for the homeless here in Memphis, Tennessee. The majority of our corporate donations, charitable funding, grants and volunteer efforts are targeted towards funding this initiative. However, we are still able to make a small number of donations and we ask that you make your requests in writing on your organization’s letterhead and mail them to us at this address:
Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc.
3734 Elvis Presley Blvd.
Memphis, Tennessee 38116
Please note: We do not accept donation requests via e-mail or fax. Because of the large number of donation requests we receive we cannot answer telephone calls about the status of donation requests, but we do respond in writing to every request we receive. Additionally, we do not provide items of memorabilia to assist fundraising activities.
Do you allow pets on tour or at the Heartbreak Hotel?
We don’t allow pets at the Heartbreak Hotel or on Graceland property. Please contact our Memphis Visitor’s Center at 1-888-633-9099 or visit their website at MemphisTravel.com for area hotels that do allow pets. Visit our Guest Services section for more about possible boarding opportunities at a local vet's office.
What is your wheelchair accessibility at Graceland?
Graceland offers shuttle services for those who are in wheelchairs by providing a shuttle with a lift (to lift the chair) for the tour only. Graceland does not provide a shuttle service to hotels or around the city.
All rooms that are toured in the Graceland Mansion are wheelchair accessible except for two basement rooms, which require going up and down stairs to reach them. If the guest who is in the wheelchair can walk, they will be able to leave their chair, visit both rooms, and then get back in their chair for the rest of the tour. If the guest can not walk, there is a alternate route (instead of the stairs) they will be taken on to complete the house part of the tour. There are photos and a TV monitor that shows what the two basement rooms, the TV room and the pool room, look like for those guest who can not view them in person.
The Elvis Presley Automobile Museum and the Sincerely Elvis Museum are both wheelchair accessible, as are the restaurants and the restrooms in the ticket pavilion.
The Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II airplanes are not wheelchair accessible.
Graceland highly recommends that you bring your own wheelchair if at all possible. Graceland does have a limited number of wheelchairs for the mansion portion of the tour only, but these wheelchairs are on a first-come, first-served basis. Graceland does not have wheelchairs for the plaza attractions.
What do you offer for hearing impaired guests?
We have the tour written out on a hand held device for our hearing impaired guests, similar to a PDA. Upon arrival, check-in at our our Guest Services Desk to receive these devices. We will need to hold a driver’s license for each device you take on tour.
Is the upstairs of Graceland Mansion open for tours?
The upstairs of Graceland Mansion is not included as part of the tour. The part of Graceland we show the world on our tour is the part that Elvis showed anyone who visited him at Graceland. The upstairs was his private area. When Graceland opened, Priscilla and Lisa felt that the upstairs should remain private, that letting everyone go up there would be disrespectful and inappropriate - something the rest of our management wholeheartedly agrees with.
Along with these personal feelings is the matter of logistics. With our volume of visitorship we would be required to put in an extra staircase as an exit, we'd have to do some remodeling upstairs as the hallway connecting the rooms is not large enough to accommodate crowds. This would radically alter the house and no one wants to do that. The issue of privacy and respect is also the reason that we do not publish photographs of the upstairs area. However, we do bring items from upstairs into our exhibits.
