The Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum’s exhibition, created by the Smithsonian Institution, tells the story of musical pioneers who overcame racial and socio-economic barriers to create the music that shook the world. The museum offers a comprehensive Memphis music experience from the rural music of the 1930s, through Memphis’ musical heyday in the 70s, to its global musical influence.

The most significant landmark of Tupelo's modern history is a modest, two-room house where the King of Rock & Roll was born on Jan. 8, 1935. The Elvis Presley Birthplace is part of the Elvis Presley Park and has been restored to the period before the singer's family moved to Memphis. The birthplace has been designated a Mississippi landmark. The Elvis Presley Park includes the Elvis Presley Museum, Memorial Chapel, Gift Shop and a lifesize statue of "Elvis at 13". The Park offers complete recreation facilities for picnics and community events.

Come see the site where Elvis Presley and thousands of other GIs got their first Army haircut! Walk through the building where Elvis, surrounded by photographers and journalists, got his iconic hair cut off when he joined the Army to serve his country!
