Lost Million Dollar Quartet Member Highlighted in Wall Street Journal
April 18, 2011
The New York cast of the hit musical "Million Dollar Quartet"
got a special visit on Friday, April 15! Marilyn Riehl, who is considered to be the fifth member of the famous 1956 gathering, attended the Broadway show.
Marilyn was at Sun Studio
in Memphis on December 4, 1956 when Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins jammed together. Marilyn appeared in the original photograph of the musicians gathered together around a piano. She's often cropped out of that picture today, but on Friday, she got to re-enact it with the musical's cast.
Marilyn had been dating Elvis at the time of the 1956 jam session. "He was just beautiful, with those fine features," Marilyn tells the Wall Street Journal
. "So dear—and gorgeous."
In the musical, Marilyn is represented by the singing role of Dyanne. Read more about her in the Wall Street Journal!
"Million Dollar Quartet"
is currently on stage in London, Chicago, and New York. A U.S. tour of the musical will launch in October 2011 at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio.
