Miami Daily News Article is This Week's Insiders Artifact

August 23, 2011

We are celebrating the 55th anniversary of the year 1956 in Elvis Presley's life. It was the year Elvis catapulted to superstardom, enjoying his first national hit, "Heartbreak Hotel," his first movie, "Love Me Tender," and his first television appearances. In honor of the anniversary, this week's Elvis Insiders Artifact is an article from The Miami Daily News dated August 4, 1956. It features photos of Elvis performing at the Olympic Theater in front of an excited crowd. The headline reads "Gals Scream When Elvis Sends Them With Siren Song, "Yuh Nuthin' But a Houn' Dog!"

Each week, a rare or never-before-seen photo or document from the Graceland archives is added to the Elvis Insiders artifacts gallery. This gallery is exclusive to Elvis Insiders Basic and Plus members. Not an Elvis Insider? Learn more about becoming one!
