New York Journal Article is This Week's Insiders Artifact
September 29, 2011
We are celebrating the 55th anniversary of the year 1956 in Elvis Presley's life. It was the year Elvis catapulted to superstardom, enjoying his first national hit, "Heartbreak Hotel," his first movie, "Love Me Tender," and his first television appearances. In honor of the anniversary, this week's Elvis Insiders Artifact is a news clipping from the New York Journal published June 13, 1956. Titled "NBC to Cramp Elvis 'Style' for Allen Show," the article covers how the dance moves Elvis performed at his concerts put NBC in a bind with its viewers.
Each week, a rare or never-before-seen photo or document from the Graceland archives is added to the Elvis Insiders artifacts gallery. This gallery is exclusive to Elvis Insiders Basic and Plus members. Not an Elvis Insider? Learn more about becoming one!
