Magazine Article is This Week's Insiders Artifact

December 20, 2011

We are celebrating the 55th anniversary of the year 1956 in Elvis Presley's life. It was the year Elvis catapulted to superstardom, enjoying his first national hit, "Heartbreak Hotel," his first movie, "Love Me Tender," and his first television appearances. This week's Elvis Insiders Artifact is a magazine article from 1956 with a caption under the picture that reads, "As Elvis Presley charges to edge of stage to howl 'You ain't nothin' but a hound dog,' screaming Miami girls charge the stage and clutch for his clothes." To see a great photo of Elvis on stage and the first part of the article, log-in to your Elvis Insiders account and go to the MEDIA section.

Each week, a rare or never-before-seen photo or document from the Graceland archives is added to the Elvis Insiders artifacts gallery. This gallery is exclusive to Elvis Insiders Basic and Plus members. Not an Elvis Insider? Learn more about becoming one!
