Elvis on Tour Exhibit Opens to Kick off Elvis Presley’s 2012 Birthday Celebration
January 05, 2012
Elvis Presley's 2012 Birthday Celebration was officially kicked off today with the grand opening of Graceland's newest exhibit, "Elvis on Tour."
Located at Graceland Crossing, "Elvis on Tour," takes an in-depth look at the 1972 Golden Globe award-winning documentary about Elvis’ multi-city tour during April of that year. This limited-time exhibit features artifacts such as the producer’s Golden Globe award, jewelry and stage clothing worn by the king during the concerts, rarely-seen photos, video and more.
In addition to "Elvis on Tour," there are two other new exhibits opening at Graceland in 2012! Elvis...Through His Daughter's Eyes, which will be part of the Graceland VIP tour, highlights the relationship between Elvis and his only child, Lisa Marie. It is set to open in February. Also, experience the influence Elvis had on many of today's artists and celebrities with the ICON: The Influence of Elvis Presley Exhibit. This exhibit will feature many artifacts on loan from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, in addition to items from the collections of many of today’s biggest names in music.
To mark the grand opening of the "Elvis on Tour Exhibit," exclusive photos have been added to the Elvis Insiders photo gallery. Also be sure to check out our photo spotlight of Elvis on Tour, which shows a photo of media interviewing Jeannine Adidge, who traveled to Memphis with Pierre Adidge's (co-director of Elvis on Tour) Golden Globe award to be placed in the exhibit.
Plan your trip to Graceland today to see these exciting exhibits commemorate the 35th anniversary year of the life and legacy or Elvis Presley.
