Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

January 21, 2013

On this day, Americans remember Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., activist and leader in the civil rights movement. Dr. King's famous "I Have a Dream" speech was one of Elvis Presley's favorite rhetorical pieces, and something he recited often over the years as a source of inspiration.

In 1964, King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination through non-violent means. His sacrifices and contributions have shaped and molded our society. The U.S. would certainly not be the same today without his extraordinary influence.
