Insiders Artifact: 1956 Memphis Press-Scimitar Article

February 16, 2012

Fresh off his two-week engagement in Las Vegas, Elvis performed on May 15, 1956, in front of a hometown audience. The show at Ellis Auditorium was one of only two concerts Elvis performed in Memphis in 1956. Elvis was the headlining act in Bob Neal's Cotton Pickin' Jamboree, part of the 22nd Annual Cotton Carnival festivities. This week's Insiders Artifact features the Memphis Press-Scimitar article saved by Elvis' manager Colonel Tom Parker.
