Insiders Artifact: Advance Check for Elvis' 1956 Performances

March 02, 2012

1956 was Elvis' landmark year where he rose to stardom and climbed the charts to become one of the best selling artists of all time. In February, Elvis made his first network debut on the Jackie Gleason-produced "Stage Show" on CBS. As "Heartbreak Hotel" reached the #1 spot on the charts, Elvis was often traveling on tour and making personal appearances on shows such as the "Louisiana Hayride." This week's Elvis Insiders Artifact is the advance check on Elvis' earnings for his February 1956 performances.

Each week, a rare or never-before-seen photo or document from the Graceland archives is added to the Elvis Insiders artifacts gallery. This gallery is exclusive to Elvis Insiders Basic and Plus members. Not an Elvis Insider? Learn more about becoming one!
