Elvis Visits Tennessee Governor Photos Added to Elvis Mobile App

March 09, 2012

Elvis was honored by the Tennessee State Legislature on March 6, 1961. Elvis showed up looking presidential in a black suit and tie and accepted the title of 'Honorary Colonel.' He was escorted by Governor Buford Ellington's daughter Ann and received a tour of the governor's mansion. “Elvis Presley Day” was proclaimed by the governor and every year after this, Elvis donated money to a list of Memphis-area charities. In honor of this year's election and our 2012 Elvis for President campaign, five photos from Elvis' trip to Nashville have been added to the Elvis Mobile 2.0 iPhone appElvis Mobile 2.0 Android app, and Elvis for iPad app.
