Ultimate ETA Cody Slaughter Talks About Portraying Elvis in "Million Dollar Quartet"

March 24, 2012

2011 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Cody Slaughter recently sat down with Pitch.com to talk about his role as Elvis in the hit musical "Million Dollar Quartet." Cody talks about his love for Elvis, the honor of portraying the king, and what inspired him to do Broadway.

Pitch.com calls Cody a "dead ringer" as portraying the role of Elvis and talks about his love of Elvis at a very young age.
In your opinion, why is Elvis so captivating to audiences even still?

Elvis was more than just a good voice and a dancer. He had an electricity about him that brought you in. He did gospel and rock 'n' roll. He appealed to all audiences, no matter who they were. He started so much and opened the gates to rock 'n' roll. He did things that hadn't been done before.

What's it like to portray Elvis in Million Dollar Quartet?

I think it's an honor for me to play the biggest icon in the world. It's pretty awesome. I think if anyone deserves to live on this long, it's Elvis.
The smash-hit musical is inspired by the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time at Sun Studio.
