Insiders Artifact: "Elvis on Tour" Thank You Ad
March 24, 2012
The 1972 Golden Globe award-winning documentary "Elvis on Tour" looks at his multi-city tour during April of that year. This week's Elvis Insiders Artifact is an ad published in "Variety" magazine on February 2, 1973. The thank you ad was placed by the production company who won the Golden Globe. It was their very public thank you to Elvis and Colonel Tom Parker for allowing them to capture Elvis in such an personal way. Graceland is now offering the "Elvis on Tour" Exhibit which features artifacts such as the producer’s Golden Globe award, rarely-seen photos, jewelry and stage clothing worn by the king during the concerts, video and more.
Each week, a rare or never-before-seen photo or document from the Graceland archives is added to the Elvis Insiders
artifacts gallery. This gallery is exclusive to Elvis Insiders Basic and Plus members. Not an Elvis Insider? Learn more about becoming one!
