Memphis In May to Feature Ultimate ETA Contest Preliminary – Call for Entries Extended to April 16

Burning love and barbecue will take over Tom Lee Park in downtown Memphis on May 19 as the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest will hold a preliminary round of the 2012 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest as part of the entertainment lineup.

Memphis in May is currently accepting applications from Elvis tribute artists who are interested in competing - but you must hurry – the call for entries has been extended to Monday, April 16, at 5:00 p.m. CST! No more than 15 artists will be selected to compete.

Come out and enjoy the best barbecue in the world and hear live Elvis music at the 2012 Elvis Tribute Artist preliminary round at the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest during Memphis in May. No more than 15 artists will be selected to compete and will receive a three-day pass to the festival and a barbecue poster.

The overall winner will receive $3,500 in cash and a chance to represent Memphis in the 2012 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest during Elvis Week. They will also receive tickets to all 2012 Elvis Week events and free lodging for three nights. Second place winners will receive a $1,000 cash prize and the third place winner will take home $500.

Memphis in May hosts the city's largest events like the Beale Street Music Festival, the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and the Sunset Symphony.
