Public Invited to Attend American Queen Christening Ceremony This Friday with Priscilla Presley

April 24, 2012

The Great American Steamboat Company and Elvis Presley Enterprises invite the public to celebrate the christening ceremony of the American Queen at Beale Street Landing on April 27 at 3:00 pm. Priscilla Presley, the boat’s Godmother, will officially name the vessel during the christening ceremony with a traditional champagne bottle launch.

The event is free, open to the public and will include local musicians, a Color Guard presentation and the U.S. Marines Band.

Attendees can watch the ceremony from the rooftop greenway and the paved terrace around Beale Street Landing.  Attendees should park close to Riverside and Beale in downtown Memphis, and walk to the landing.

The Great American Steamboat Company has also entered into an exclusive partnership with Elvis Presley Enterprises. This collaboration will present the first Elvis Cruise on the American Queen from Memphis to New Orleans this December, as well as signature Graceland experiences for guests. More details are coming soon!

*There is NO PARKING available at the landing. The public will need to park in downtown proper and walk down Beale Street to the landing. Access to the landing will be heavily policed and there will be a major police presence due to the potential for traffic congestion and that the landing is still an active construction zone.
