August 09, 2012

As the Queen of Rockabilly makes her way to Memphis for Elvis Week 2012, she was recently featured in an article on Examiner.com.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and America's first female rock singer Wanda Jackson will be attending the Elvis Insiders Conference on Monday, August 13, at the Elvis Week Main Stage Pavilion. Tickets are $35 and will be available for purchase beginning August 9 at Graceland Guest Services or at the door 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.

Examiner.com writer Jeremy Roberts writes, "In her iconic 58-year recording career, the talented songwriter became the first female artist to sing rockabilly and ultimately rock and roll in a male-dominated field. In case you didn't know, Elvis encouraged her to pursue rockabilly."

Elvis and Jackson toured together in 1955 - 1956 right before the king's landmark year into stardom. Jackson will join other featured guests for a day-long event of special programming, videos, and more - all celebrating Elvis.
