August 22, 2012

The Business World is paying tribute to the experts of tributes. In a new article called "Young Elvis tribute artists keep the flame burning," they look at the time and preparation involved in becoming an Elvis tribute artist.

With 29 contestants this year, the online publication spoke with several contestants before the semifinals on August 17, 2012.

“It takes a lot of dedication, a lot of years of experience (and) a lot of work in the gym trying to stay in shape, and just loving him and loving the fans,” said Stephen Freeman, an Elvis tribute artist for 15 years.

Runner up in the 2012 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist finals, Victor Trevino, Jr., shared his secret to successfully paying tribute the king.

"I’m still true to myself because Elvis was true to himself. That’s what made him so unique and so fun to watch and so amazing. All tribute artists are more interesting when they add a bit of themselves to their performance.”

Canadian Elvis tribute artist Eli Williams agreed, “None of these guys here are trying to be Elvis. This is just our way of paying tribute to him.”
