On the heels of the successful finale to the COCHON 555 2012 tour with Grand Cochon in Aspen, the creators of COCHON 555 – with support from The Peabody Memphis Hotel, Duncan Williams, the Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Downtown Memphis Commission – announce the inaugural COCHON Heritage BBQ this Labor Day weekend in Memphis. From Friday, August 31 through Sunday, September 2, 2012, this all-new three-day culinary experience, featuring acclaimed chefs from across the country, will celebrate heritage pork, National Bourbon Month, and the classic American tradition of BBQ in the city hailed as the BBQ capital of the world, all while supporting COCHON’s mission to promote sustainable change in the industry and foster education about heritage breeds.

COCHON Heritage BBQ is a convergence of responsible farmers, renowned chefs, master distillers, prominent winemakers, established restaurateurs, and 1,000 members of the pig-loving public. For three action-packed days, COCHON Heritage BBQ will feature a schedule of events and happenings celebrating all things craft and American, including special tasting experiences, interactive demonstrations, panel discussions, specialty food artisans, craft breweries, family-owned wineries, Bourbon distillers, craft spirits, and much more.

On Sunday, the true feast commences with the main event. At this first-ever heritage breed BBQ cook-off, 24 all-star chef teams will delight guests with over-the-top pork preparations and tastings as they engage in a friendly cooking competition.
