October 04, 2013

"Blue Hawaii" was Elvis' first movie filmed from Hawaii and reached No. 2 in the box office, finishing as the 10th top-grossing movie of 1961. The film won a fourth place prize Laurel Award in the category of "Top Musical of 1961" and was nominated by the Writers Guild of America in 1962 in the category of "Best Written American Musical." Most of the filming took place at the Coco Palms Resort on the east coast of Kauai and the scenes where his character's clients stayed in a hotel were all filmed on the property that is now known as the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Waikiki Beach. In celebration of Elvis' time spent in Hawaii, we've added five photos of Elvis filming "Blue Hawaii" to the Elvis Mobile 2.0 iPhone appElvis Mobile 2.0 Android app, and Elvis for iPad app.
