Rocker James Durbin Covers Elvis on Holiday Single

December 19, 2012

American Idol finalist and rocker James Durbin recently released his new single just in time for the holidays. Durbin, who credits Elvis as a major influence on his music, brings a high-energy twist to Elvis' classic "Santa Claus is Back in Town."

"[It] has ALWAYS been my favorite Christmas song," James told Yahoo Music. "It's Elvis, and who doesn't like Elvis?"

While recording in Nashville, the band began jamming to Elvis' hit holiday classic. Durbin describes the new Elvis cover as having a "Van-Halen-esque punk hybrid sound."

Since his time on American Idol, James has stayed busy with his 2011 release "Memories of a Beautiful Disaster." The album debuted at #36 on the Billboard 200, at #8 on the Billboard Rock Chart, #25 on the Digital Album Chart and sold 28,000 the first week.
