Headlines Around the World Wish Elvis a 'Happy Birthday'

Publications, television stations, and magazines from around the world joined in for the 2013 Birthday Celebration by wishing the king a happy birthday. Check out the following articles celebrating the king's impact on music and pop culture.

"The Washington Post" featured an article about the birthday festivities along with a look inside the new “Elvis’ Hawaii: Concerts, Movies and More!” Exhibit which opened during the 2013 Birthday Celebration.

The iconic music magazine featured a July 12, 1969 cover and article to celebrate the king's monumental career. William Otterburn-Hall interviews Elvis and Colonel Tom Parker from the film-set of "Change of Habit."

People Magazine

In the age of social media, People Magazine chose to pay tribute to the king by sharing iconic photos of Elvis on their Instagram page. Fans can also add their own photos to the Fan Photo Gallery.

"The Huffington Post" in the U.S. celebrated the king's birthday with a look inside his beloved home. The photo gallery takes you through the famous rooms of the Graceland mansion. Also, be sure to check out our 360° tours of Graceland.

Billboard called the king "chart royalty" with a look back at five of his most impressive chart records. The article looks at his 108 Top 100 Hits, 80 Top 40 Hits, 126 Billboard-charted albums, and his 67-week run at #1 on the Billboard 200.

A Tupelo kindergarten did their part in celebrating the king's legacy by holding their own old-fashioned sock hop! Children and teachers dressed in Elvis-attire and enjoyed a hula hoop contest, drag raced mini hot wheels, and danced to Elvis tunes.

LIFE Magazine also paid tribute to the king with a collection of photos from his Army days, along with an article about his return from Germany. In comparison to today's artists, the article studies the 60s culture and the pop-culture icon's impact on the Army way of life.

Even the popular site BuzzFeed joined in on the celebration with 12 gifs of Elvis' best moves. From his days performing "Hound Dog" on the Ed Sullivan Show to his '70s karate moves, the article shows off the moves that would eventually change the entertainment industry.

In an article titled "Happy Birthday, Elvis Presley: It's Elvismas Time," the website celebrated the king's birthday with a look at how the original “Hound Dog” made history in American culture. This article looks back at some of his major milestones through out his career.
