Graceland Kicks Off "St. Jude: Give Thanks. Give Hope." Donation Campaign

April 04, 2013

Elvis fans visiting Graceland during the month of April have a chance to snag Elvis goodies and help the St.Jude Children's Research Hospital. Graceland has joined the "St. Jude: Give Thanks. Give Hope." donation campaign and guests can support the world-renowned children's hospital while touring the king's home in Memphis.

The king's connection with St. Jude goes back to its earliest days. Elvis was one of the early supporters enlisted by Danny Thomas in the creation of the hospital. He was the first to perform at the very first "Shower of Stars" event at Crump Stadium. Elvis also purchased the USS Potomac, formerly owned by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and donated it to raise funds for the hospital.

Graceland joins retail locations across the country who have united to help save children’s lives through the "St. Jude: Give Thanks. Give Hope." campaign. Employees at participating establishments will ask patrons to make a $1 donation to St. Jude to join the fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. To date, this campaign has generated more than $2.6 million for the children at St. Jude Children's Hospital.
