"Presley's career and Memphis' influence on America's musical landscape are so tightly intertwined, it's doubtful either would have become quite as prominent without the other," writes Lynne Margolis.

Margolis credits the Memphis sound to the legendary recordings and digs into the history behind the three albums produced inside the place where many musical greats performed. With interviews from historian Robert Gordon, RCA Records' Ernst Mikael Jorgensen and Elvis' fellow Stax band member Norbert Putnam, GRAMMY.com dives into the rich music produced during July and December of 1973.

"Presley again tapped into the bluesy soul, primal R&B, rockin' gospel, country-tinged rockabilly, and rich balladry that characterized his best work."

In conjunction with the much-anticipated August 6th release, RCA/Legacy Recordings is hosting a very special listening party at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music on Tuesday, August 11, at 4:00 p.m. During this exclusive Elvis Week event, fans will have an opportunity to stand in the very same spot where Elvis recorded the music they are hearing, in addition to witnessing stories and details behind the music and recording sessions from representatives of Sony and special guest Norbert Putnam.
