Elvis Week MySpace Karaoke Contest Winner Sings at Graceland - UPDATED

Congratulations to Carlee Goins who is on her way to Memphis after winning the Elvis Week MySpace Karaoke Contest. The Texas native and a friend are packing their bags and will arrive in Memphis over the weekend to tour Graceland and attend all of the exciting Elvis Week events which kick off Saturday, August 9th and continue through Sunday, August 17th

Congratulations to Carlee Goins who is on her way to Memphis after winning the Elvis Week MySpace Karaoke Contest. The Texas native and a friend are packing their bags and will arrive in Memphis over the weekend to tour Graceland and attend all of the exciting events which kick off Saturday, August 9 and continue through Sunday, August 17. On the evening of Tuesday, August 12th, during Music and Movies at Graceland , Carlee will receive the rare opportunity to perform with entertainers who actually toured and recorded with Elvis, including The Imperials and TCB Band members Jerry Scheff and Glen Hardin. 

 

Carlee is a 20 year old native of Deer Park, TX who attends Texas Tech University and is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Music Education and Composition. With an eclectic taste in music, Carleee says she was raised on Rock ‘n' Roll and Folk Music, discovered Big Band and Jazz on her own, and then learned to love Classical with her studies in school. In addition to Elvis, some of her musical influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, B.B.King, Ray Charles and Otis Redding.

There were nearly 2,000 entries in the contest as MySpace Karaoke users from the and tried their best to impress the judges with versions of three Elvis classics that included “Hound Dog,” “Suspicious Minds” and “If I Can Dream.” It was Carlee’s versions of “If I Can Dream” and “Suspicious Minds” that impressed the judges from Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc., MySpace Karaoke and Sony BMG and earned her the top prize. 10 second-place prizes awarded are also being awarded and include an Elvis: Viva Las Vegas DVD in addition to an Elvis MP3/Video player preloaded with clips of some of Elvis' greatest performances.
