New York (June 7, 2004) – As the world gears up to commemorate the 50th anniversary of rock ‘n’ roll on July 5th,BMG Strategic Marketing Group is set to release two CDs which undoubtedly figure prominently in the celebrations – the official compilation, “Memphis Celebrates 50 Years Of Rock ‘n Roll” and “ELVIS AT SUN,” the definitive collection of Presley’s work at his professional birthplace Sun Studio in Memphis, TN. Both CDs, along with two historic Presley DVDs, “ELVIS: ’68 Comeback Special - Deluxe Edition DVD” and “ELVIS, Aloha From Hawaii - Deluxe Edition DVD,” will be released on June 22nd.

In addition, on June 8th, BMG SMG will release a special anniversary CD single of “That’s All Right” with the original version, an alternate version from the original recording session and the original “B” side, “Blue Moon Of Kentucky.” It will be packaged to reflect the original “brown bag” look the first 45 was released in. Available now.

“Memphis Celebrates 50 Years Of Rock ‘n’ Roll” features a diverse array of musicians who were either born in Memphis, recorded in Memphis, or were deeply influenced by the city and its sound, singing some of rock ‘n’ roll’s most indelible songs, including Johnny Cash (“I Walk The Line”), Aretha Franklin (“Respect”), B.B. King (“Rock Me Baby”), Otis Redding (“Dock Of the Bay”), Dusty Springfield (“Son of A Preacher Man”), and Jerry Lee Lewis (“Great Balls Of Fire”). The disc also features Elvis Presley singing the song that historians point to as the birth of rock ‘n’ roll – “That’s All Right” which brought rock ‘n’ roll into the mainstream and ushered in a new era of music. (A full track listing is found further down this page.)

“That’s All Right” also appears on the BMG SMG compilation “ELVIS AT SUN,” the definitive collection of Presley’s work at this historic studio, recorded with the legendary producer Sam Phillips. “ELVIS AT SUN” is the single CD of all of Elvis’s Sun master recordings including “Mystery Train,” “Trying To Get To You,” and “Good Rockin’ Tonight” – all updated for improved audio quality, featuring many performances recorded from newly found tapes. It also includes alternate version of songs from the original recording sessions.

Both the CD and DVD releases come on the eve of worldwide celebrations of the 50th anniversary of rock ‘n’ roll. To help commemorate the anniversary and promote the companion CDs and DVDs, BMG and Elvis Presley Enterprises are working with an impressive roster of marketing partners including The Memphis Convention & Visitors Bureau, Sun Studio, Hard Rock Cafe, TV Guide, Rolling Stone, QVC, Pepsi, Miller Beer, Warner Bros., and others.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Elvis Presley Enterprises and our other marketing partners to celebrate this remarkable anniversary,” said Joe DiMuro, Executive Vice President, BMG Strategic Marketing. “This is truly a milestone in music history and we are honored to be a significant part of it.”

In cooperation with TV Guide magazine, BMG also produced a miniature CD featuring a never-before released version of "That's All Right." The CD will be affixed to TV Guide's July 4th issue (on newsstands July 1st), which celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Rock 'n' Roll with four different collectible Elvis covers.
