As part of the festivities at Sun Studio yesterday to mark the 50th anniversary of the recording of Elvis Presley's first single. That's All Right, BMG presented a gold record awards for the song to guitarist Scotty Moore and to the estates of Elvis Presley, bassist Bill Black and producer Sam Phillips. Also specially recognized with a gold record award was original writer and recording artist for the song, Arthur Crudup.

That's All Right was a regional hit. Not quite two years after its release, Elvis was a big star and he cranked out one monster hit after another. That's All Right continued to be available as a single for many years after RCA bought Elvis's Sun contract and long, long ago it had sold enough to earn gold status. But, with sales data not as carefully kept back then as it is now, BMG (owner of RCA) had a tough challenge in assembling official sales data to present to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) to get a gold certification. We applaud and congratulate BMG on a wonderful effort and a beautiful result. A most fitting tribute on an historic occasion.

Elvis now has 149 different albums and singles that have been officially certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum by the RIAA.
