Food Network Challenge Travels to Peabody Hotel and Graceland for Pastry Competitions

Food Network gets those competitive juices flowing with Food Network Challenge. Every month, this series takes viewers to the biggest and best food battles around the world with host Scott Leibfried. This November, Food Network will tape two deliciously exciting pastry competitions in Memphis, with the winners each receiving a $10,000 prize! Each challenge is open to the public – not only can viewers get up close to amazing chefs as they compete at the highest level, they have the opportunity to be on TV!

Host Scott Leibfried is no stranger to cuisine. After graduating from Johnson and Wales University with a degree in Culinary Arts, Scott moved to Martha’s Vineyard worked in various chef positions in local casual and fine dining restaurants for five years. After traveling around the country to experience new techniques, Scott accepted a position as sous chef at The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Five years later, he was named Executive Chef of the Napa Valley Grille. Most recently, Scott worked with Chef Gordon Ramsey in several of his Michelin-rated London restaurants and has appeared on Food Network’s Party Starters and FOX’s Hell’s Kitchen.

Food Network Challenge: Rock ‘n Roll Pastry Peabody Hotel – Continental Ballroom 149 Union Ave Memphis, TN Tuesday, November 8 from 8:00 AM-3:00PM

Master pastry chefs from around the country descend on the Peabody Hotel and compete to make amazing sugar showpieces. The contestants need to show two elements of “Rock & Roll”—both the concepts of the music and the movement (rocking and rolling). The winner receives $10,000 and the viewing the competition is open and free to the public. Air date to be determined. Food Network Challenge: Happy Birthday Elvis Cake Graceland – Elvis Presley Automobile Museum Memphis, TN Thursday, November 10 from 8:00 AM-3:00PM

Food Network takes over the auto museum at Graceland to stage a rocking competition. Pastry chefs from around the country compete to bake and decorate a birthday cake fit for a king – the king of rock & roll, that is. Each showpiece must incorporate an Elvis theme and the winner receives $10,000. The competition may be viewed by Graceland visitors holding tickets for the auto museum tour. Specific air date to be determined, but it is expected to be sometime around Elvis's birthday - January 8, 2006.
